Miller Band and Groove Is In The Heart by Deee-Lite - tied on panel sales and The Joker was awarded the number one position becuase its sales had increased more from the previous week. It was subsequently announced that The Joker had sold eight more copies than Groove that week, though eight copies across the whole country is hardly the sort of margin that one could have much confidence in. Anyway, by the chart rules in force at the time, The Joker got the top spot and Deee-Lite had to be content with number two. So near, yet so far away. |
